¡Esto es caridad?

 Alimentan el cuerpo pero no el alma

Todos sabemos que hay catorce obras de misericordia, siete materiales y siete espirituales. Dar de comer al hambriento, vestir al desnudo, visitar a los enfermos, etc., es lo que hace la Asociación Obras del Espíritu Santo fundada por el padre Sergio Valverde en 2000, en el barrio Cristo Rey de la ciudad de San José en Costa Rica.

Sin embargo, por lo que vemos en el video de arriba, no podemos decir que esta Asociación cumpla con las obras espirituales de caridad, de la cual la más importante es "Rezar por los vivos y por los difuntos". O al menos no podemos decir que lo hagan del modo adecuado.

En un antiguo misal, que data de 1947, y bajo el título Modo de portarse en el templo se lee:
"Dentro del templo no debe saludarse a ninguna persona desde lejos, y cuando haya de hacerse de cerca, tan sólo es lícito un ligero movimiento de cabeza, sin detenerse jamás a dar la mano, ni mucho menos a conversar.

Nunca tomes asiento sin haber hecho por lo menos una genuflexión con la rodilla derecha hacia el altar que encierra el Santísimo Sacramento. Pero doblarás ambas rodillas si su Divina Majestad estuviese expuesta.
Los jóvenes de fina educación no se encuentran jamás en esas filas de mozalbetes que, en las puertas de las iglesias, molestan con sus miradas y palabras a las personas que entran o salen."

Cabe preguntar qué nos ha pasado para que la solemnidad y el respeto de ayer se hayan transformado en el aquelarre moderno, donde hasta las niñas se les enseña a ocupar un lugar que no les corresponde y que solamente les generará anhelos imposibles de cumplir en el seno de la Iglesia Católica, cual es el sacerdocio.

Recemos para que se pueda responder con certeza esta cuestión, porque si se determinaran con certeza las causas de nuestra decadencia sería más factible darle solución.

They nourish the body but not the soul.

We all know there are fourteen works of mercy: seven corporal and seven spiritual. Feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick, and so forth—these are the activities of the "Obras del Espíritu Santo" (Works of the Holy Spirit) Association, founded by Father Sergio Valverde in the year 2000 in the Cristo Rey neighborhood of San José, Costa Rica. 

However, judging by the video above, we cannot say that this Association fulfills the spiritual works of charity—the most important of which is "praying for the living and the dead"—or at least, not in the proper manner. 

An old missal dating back to 1947, under the heading Proper Conduct in the Church, reads:

"Inside the church, one must not greet anyone from a distance; when a greeting must be exchanged at close range, only a slight nod of the head is permissible—never stopping to shake hands, much less to converse.

Never take your seat without first genuflecting—bending the right knee—toward the altar that houses the Blessed Sacrament. However, you must bend both knees if His Divine Majesty is exposed.

Well-bred young men are never found among those groups of youths who, at church doorways, harass people entering or leaving with their stares and words."

One is compelled to ask what has happened to us, that the solemnity and respect of the past have transformed into a modern-day "aquelarre"—a chaotic spectacle—where even young girls are taught to claim a role that is not theirs and that will only foster desires impossible to fulfill within the true Catholic Church: namely, the priesthood.

Let us pray that this question may be answered with certainty; for if the causes of our decline were clearly identified, it would be far more feasible to find a solution.
