Homilía en la Solemnidad de la
Asunción de la Santísima Virgen

Mi alma glorifica al Señor,
y mi espíritu se goza en Dios mi Salvador.
Porque ha mirado la bajeza de su esclava:
por tanto, desde ahora todas las generaciones
me llamarán bienaventurada.
Porque en mí obró grandes cosas el poderoso,
cuyo Nombre es santo;
y cuya misericordia sobre los que le temen
se extiende de generación en generación.
Hizo alarde del poder de su brazo;
deshizo las miras del corazón de los soberbios,
derribó del solio a los poderosos,
y ensalzó a los humildes.
Colmó de bienes a los hambrientos,
y a los ricos los despidió sin nada.
Acordándose de su misericordia,
acogió a Israel, su siervo;
según la promesa que hizo a nuestros padres,
en favor de Abrahán y su descendencia,
por los siglos de los siglos.
En el Magnificat, que se puede demostrar es de su autoría aunque la crítica racionalista lo niegue, la Santísima Virgen hizo dos profecías: profetizó que todas las generaciones la llamarían Santa, y anticipó el cambio que el Cristianismo traería al mundo.
El cumplimiento de la primera, realizado cada vez que se entona el Ave María (Santa María Madre de Dios...), en todas las Iglesias que a los largo de la historia y a lo ancho del mundo han sido bautizadas con alguna de sus advocaciones, es, según san Agustín, un milagro más grande que la resurrección de un muerto relatada en el Evangelio. Porque esto último lo creemos por la Fe, mientras que aquello lo constatamos por nosotros mismos.
En cambio muchos dicen que no se ha cumplido la novedad que iba a traer el Cristianismo, que se puede resumir en la elevación de los humildes, de los pequeños, de los temerosos de Dios, y en el abajamiento de los prepotentes, de los soberbios y de los poderosos. Sin embargo, esta segunda profecía de la Santísima Virgen halló pleno cumplimiento en el esplendor de la Cristiandad, cuando al decir de Bosuett, era realidad la eminente dignidad de los pobres en la Iglesia.
La causa de que no sea la realidad actual la encontramos en la Revolución Francesa y sus hijos predilectos: el Capitalismo, el Totalitarismo y la falsa Democracia. Aquel mundo feliz, en cuando puede serlo el mundo, lo produjo el Brazo de Dios, el Mesías, el Cristianismo practicado, la Cristiandad; cuyo Rey ha heredado el trono de David su padre, y reinará por siempre, aunque haya un tiempo en que su Reyecía sea opacada.
En la tercera parte del Magníficat, la Santísima Virgen dice que la transformación del mundo operada por el Cristianismo, es el cumplimiento de las promesas hechas por Dios a Abraham y su descendencia, ya que la Religión de Jesucristo continua, y es ahora, el Israel de Dios. Porque no hubo una serie de religiones que mueren y de las cuales salen otras más perfectas, según opinan algunos, sino que ha habido y hay una sola Religión Verdadera, que se ha ido desarrollando desde Adán hasta nuestros días.
En la parte final de este sermón, pronunciado en Agosto de 1965 poco antes de la conclusión del Concilio Vaticano II, el padre Castellani denuncia las presiones que se ejercían en su seno para la apertura del diálogo interreligioso, dejando claro sus puntos de vista al respecto que pueden resumirse como sigue: "Ya que el Judaísmo actual ha dejado de ser el Israel de Dios, se equivocan los que dicen, aunque lo digan desde lo alto de la Jerarquía, que es más o menos lo mismo que el Cristianismo, o que son religiones hermanas".
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
In the Magnificat, which can be proven to be her work despite denials from rationalist critics, the Blessed Virgin Mary made two prophecies: she prophesied that all generations would call her Holy, and she foretold the change that Christianity would bring to the world.
The fulfillment of the first, realized each time the Hail Mary is sung (Holy Mary, Mother of God...), in all the churches throughout history and across the world that have been named after her, is, according to Saint Augustine, a greater miracle than the resurrection of the dead recounted in the Gospel. For we believe the latter through faith, while the former we witness for ourselves.
However, many say that the newness that Christianity was to bring has not been fulfilled, a newness that can be summarized as the elevation of the humble, the lowly, the God-fearing, and the humbling of the arrogant, the proud, and the powerful. However, this second prophecy of the Blessed Virgin found its full realization in the splendor of Christendom, when, as Bosuett said, the eminent dignity of the poor in the Church was a reality.
The reason this is not the reality today lies in the French Revolution and its chosen offspring: Capitalism, Totalitarianism, and false Democracy. That happy world, insofar as the world can be happy, was brought about by the Arm of God, the Messiah, Christianity as practiced, Christendom; whose King has inherited the throne of his father David and will reign forever, even if there is a time when his Kingship is overshadowed.
In the third part of the Magnificat, the Blessed Virgin says that the transformation of the world wrought by Christianity is the fulfillment of the promises made by God to Abraham and his descendants, since the Religion of Jesus Christ continues and is now the Israel of God. Because there wasn't a series of religions that died out and from which more perfect ones emerged, as some believe, but rather there has been and is only one True Religion, which has been developing from Adam to the present day.
In the final part of this sermon, delivered in August 1965 shortly before the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council, Father Castellani denounces the pressures exerted within the Church to open interreligious dialogue, making his views on the matter clear, which can be summarized as follows: "Since present-day Judaism is no longer the Israel of God, those who say, even from the highest levels of the Hierarchy, that it is more or less the same as Christianity, or that they are sister religions, are mistaken."
